Amy Gigi Alexander
In her thirties, Amy Gigi Alexander set out to explore the world, and has never stopped since. Her travels have taken her to live with the Ngabe Bugle indigenous group of Panama, a stint with the Missionaries of Charity in Calcutta, and eight walks across entire countries. A few years ago, while walking across New Zealand, she suddenly fell ill, and shortly thereafter discovered she had Fibromyalgia, a disease which causes severe pain all over the body. At first she believed her adventures were over, but then she decided to confront her limitations and live an even more epic life. In love with landscapes, nature, mountains, and remote places, her recent journeys have taken her to Latin America, East Africa, and Canada. Her award winning writing has been published in numerous publications and anthologies, including BBC Travel, National Geographic Traveler, and Lonely Planet, among others. She is the publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Panorama: The Journal of Intelligent Travel and the upcoming indie press of travel literature, Panoramic Publishing. She lives in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, and her next epic walk is the length of the Thames Path in England next fall.
